An RLRS relocation consultant will contact you and your family and provide counseling sessions and support throughout the process, as well as, prepare a family profile, acquaint your family with the destination city, review housing requirements, provide a personalized community package with market information about residential areas, amenities and market prices, and will introduce your family to an experienced, professional local broker. When your family is ready to travel to the new location, your consultant will assist you with planning a successful house hunting trip, screening and reviewing all available properties that match your requirements, arrange any viewing appointments, provide guidance and support in your purchase or lease negotiation.  If leasing, you will be provided with a copy of your provincial Landlord and Tenant Act.

Temporary Accommodation

You may require temporary accommodation at your new location if you have not yet acquired your new permanent home, or if your family is not yet ready to move due to other commitments. The RLRS Temporary Accommodation service provides the alternatives to costly long-term hotel bills and the limited space available in hotel accommodations. (One hotel room compared to a suite containing a living room, bedroom, and kitchen!).

The RLRS relocation consultant will contact you to identify your short-term housing requirements and budget, identify and pre-screen available temporary accommodation that would be suitable to your family’s needs through the transition. The consultant will also enlist an experienced local rental agent, if required, and assist you with the negotiation of the temporary lease.

Eight Weeks Before Your Move

	Create a "Move Information" file to hold all your move related receipts, documents, etc… Using a brightly colored organizer/file box with interior pockets/folders ensures critical moving/income tax information is not misplaced or left behind!
	Contact your mover(s) to make arrangements for moving day.
	Remove items from your attic, basement, storage shed, etc.
	Get the kids & elderly parents involved.
	Start to use up things you can't move, such as frozen foods and cleaning supplies.
	Contact the Chamber of Commerce or visitors and tourism bureaus in your new community for information on your new city.
